Avoiding Clogged Sewers during COVID-19
You may find it difficult to find many supplies during the COVID-19 universal pandemic such as hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, and toilet paper. Whether you have these items readily available or have decided to use alternatives, we want to ensure that you are properly prepared and disposing of these items to prevent clogged toilets, sinks, and sewers in your Minnesota home.

According to the U.S wastewater treatment officials, many folks are flushing wipes down their toilet causing a surge in backed up sewer lines. We ask that you do not flush anything other than toilet paper down your toilets. Paper towels, “flushable wipes”, napkins, and other alternatives are simply not suitable for pipes and sewer lines. In a recent news article published by the Sun, “flushing wipes, paper towels and similar products down toilets cannot only clog sewers, but also cause backups and overflows at wastewater treatment facilities, creating an additional public health risk in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.”
